WWW Wednesday is a meme currently hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. It’s very simple – answer the three questions and leave a link in Sam’s post.
The Three Ws are:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next
It’s been about a month since I did one of these, and I’m sort of ashamed of how few books I’m read but I have listened to quite a few audiobooks which I guess makes up for it. I need to sit and read because it’s getting embarrassing.
What am I currently reading?
An Assassin’s Guide to Love & Treason by Virginia Boecker- I am loving this. There’s a girl pretending to be a boy to play Viola in the Twelfth Night. Literal Shakespeare is a character. There’s an assassination plot. I’m a third of the way through, and I’m sure if I just sat down and read, I’d finish it rather quickly because it’s a fast-paced book with a lot going on and I love it.
The Raven’s Tale by Cat Winters – In my last WWW Wednesday, I hadn’t started this yet but planned to over the weekend. That was one month ago and I am now 30% through! It’s a great book. I don’t want my slow progress to project negatively on this book because when I finish it, I’m going to write a glowing review. I just need to, like unplug for a few days and read.
What have I recently finished reading?
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli- (review) Its summer and I love me a cute romance. Becky Albertalli is very, very good at delivering the nearly perfect YA romance.
The Trial of Lizzie Borden by Cara Robertson- (review) I loved this book because I didn’t know a lot about the trial itself. I knew about the murders and theories about if not Lizzie who? but I didn’t know about the actual case and how the defense won. I thought it was a lot of “but a woman could never!” but it wasn’t. this book was a comprehensive look at the justice system and I liked it a lot.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell- (review coming soon) – I’m not much for “adult” fiction but this was a good, well written, interesting story about growing up and growing apart and remember why you fell in love. It was lovely.
Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (review coming soon) – *insert Stephon Gif* This book has everything! An alternate universe where the USA has female president, making out against painting of Alexander Hamilton, sex scandals, Princes of England. Excerpts from the Hamilton/Laurens letters, mentions of King James and his lover that he kept promoting George. Romance mixed with a serious storyline, drunk karaoke. I can’t wait to write the whole review for this. It is very good.
What do I plan to read next?
Kind of an Epic Love Story by Kheryn Callendar- I’ve heard some amazing things about this book, which I’ll be reading when I finish the Assassin’s Guide. I’m looking forward to it.
Again but Better by Christine Riccio- I have an arc of this book that was released 2 months ago. I’ve heard some mixed things about it. I am not familiar with Christine Riccio as a person whereas I’ve noticed quite a few other reviewers are, so I’m interested to see how that changes my view of the book compared to my blogging friends.
I have an ask of you, good friend. I am going on a rather long road trip in a couple weeks and I need an audiobook suggestion. I think I’m going to listen to a Teddy Roosevelt biography, but I’ve been saying that for about 2 years now and I still haven’t listened to it. Anyway, if you have a suggestion for a good book to listen to while driving (or honestly a good podcast to listen to while driving) please leave a comment suggesting one. I would love to hear it.
Until next time Internet,
Deanna
