Top 5 Wednesday is currently being hosted by Sam at ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to learn more about the group or are considering joining in, check out the Goodreads group. Each week has a different topic, and you just post five books that fit that topic.
This week it’s a freebie week, so I went back to January 2014 and chose books that have been on my TBR list for a ridiculous amount of time that I really want to read.
So, friends, most of TBR list on Goodreads are books that I physically own. I have a book buying problem, and I am aware of it. About a year and a half ago, I went through my Goodreads TBR list and took out all the books that I didn’t physically own, and there were still over eighty books. I’m never going to run out of books to read. But these five are books that I really need to add the pile of six on the top of my bookshelf which is my “reading next” pile.
Beauty Queens by Libba Bray — I am about 80% sure I added this to my TBR because Maureen Johnson was talking about it. I have physically owned this book since, like 2013, and just haven’t read it yet. It sounds so fun and has some great reviews. I just have to get on it and read it.
To be honest, I think the reason I haven’t read it is because it’s in paperback and I don’t like reading paperback books.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black — This is another book recommended by Maureen Johnson that I bought approximately 200 years ago but haven’t read yet. Again probably because it’s in paperback.
I believe I bought this when I was in a vampire thing, but I came out of it before I got to this book. I like Holly Black, and I’m pretty sure I will like this book. I just have to read it.
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart– I bought this book because it was mentioned in a Vlog Brother’s video in, like 2009. Another book I own in paperback which is probably why I haven’t read it yet.
This is another one I know I’m going to like because many people whose book opinions I agree with liked it. I don’t know what my problem is.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz — I own two copies of this book. The, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, paperback, and the audiobook read by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
I bought the paperback because so many of my friends in the HPA were walking about it and I wanted to read it. I bought the audio because I have a sickness. I will read and/or listen to this book someday.
Cress (and the rest of the Lunar Chronical series) by Marissa Meyer — I loved Cinder with all my heart. I read it because everyone in the blogging world was talking about these books when I started blogging. I missed the Fairy Tale retelling craze (or just didn’t really get it) when it was big, so I never picked up the books. I stopped reading them because I wanted to have a book to review on my blog and I didn’t want to review sequels. So I put it aside and started something else. I really want to get back into this series.
Now that I’m done shaming myself, I want to hear from you! What books have you been sitting on? Tell me what’s been sitting on your shelf for too long?
Until next time, Internet
