I was not technically tagged in this but I liked the tag after seeing it Diary of a Bookfiend’s blog last week. so I decided that I was just going to do, because why not.
What do you like about buying new books?
Books smell so nice.
In John Green’s Looking for Alaska, the title character says something about creating a life library. I like to think that’s what I’m doing. I’m setting up myself for a lifetime of reading. The way I’m going, I’m never going to run out of books.
How often do you buy new books?
I try to limit myself to once a month. It doesn’t always work, but end up saving the books that I want every month and make a list. When I have five or six on my list, I go to the store. Sometimes I end up buying Kindle books or audiobooks when I’m bored at work and need something to read.
Bookstore or online book shopping–which do you prefer?
I enjoy going into the bookstore. I like looking at all the new books out. I like touching books.
Do you have a favorite bookshop?
I buy a lot of books at Barnes and Noble, but we have a really cool used bookstore in my town that I love to walk around in. It smells great.
Do you pre-order books?
I pre-order books by my favorite authors. Usually, because we can get cool swag for pre-ordering. For example, for pre-ordering Mackenzi Lee’s A Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy, which comes out next month, you can get a Monty/Percy novella. A lot of Maureen Johnson books, when you pre-order from indie bookstores you can get stickers and fun stuff.
I mean, I would pre-order books if I didn’t get cool stuff, but cool stuff is a big push to do it.
Do you have a monthly book buying limit?
It depends on what my bills are. Honestly, it should be $0.00 because I own a ridiculous amount of books, but I have little self-control when it comes to books and there are so many good ones!
How big is your wishlist?
Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own now?
I’m incredibly excited for all of these books. The Lady’s Guide will be arriving at my house in a few weeks. Pulp doesn’t come out until November, I think, so that will be the next time I go to the bookstore. The Wicked King I’m waiting to get on audible as I listened to the Cruel Prince and I want to have the same experience with a series. Trust me when I say, that there are at least 50 more books on that wishlist and a physical TBR pile at my house that’s taller than I am.
